Kent McNeil In American Bicyclist

Going over some back issues of the League of American Bicyclists I came across this article on page 8. The story was about how Omaha is becoming more bicycling friendly. Kent has always been a strong advocate of a cycling friendly community and it’s good to see his smile. Keep up the good work Kent!

It was bound to happen. That is electronic shifting. Pretty cool. Here’s the article from NY Times

Maybe they should be solar rechargeable?

Not So Bad After All

I came across this list of not so bad foods on Active nutrition. I’ve never disliked pork rinds but thought they would be bad for me. I thought they lacked any nutritional value. Then again I never really checked. Never assume.

So if you happen to see me eating a bag o’ rinds you’ll now know why.

Cycling Science Review

It’s Friday the 13th and what better way to start than with the truth about training and leave the superstition to story telling.

I came across a good review of some of the science of cycling that’s been going on for the past few years.  A partial summation of physiology and training that leads to performance gains can be found in these abstracts  part 1 and here is part 2 .

If you’re interested in the full article respond to this post or just drop me an email at marc at trainingtherightway.com .

Lets Get Ready To Rumble

Nike has a protection system for basketball players that offers padding in certain contact areas that players experience . There is even a design for football players. What about roller derby?

Will cyclist be then next athletes to wear something like this? I could see it as beneficial for collar bone protection. Will Lance be our guinea pig? Time will only tell.
