Phys Ed: What Really Causes Runners High? – NYTimes.com

For decades, endorphins have hogged the credit for producing “runner’s high,” that fleeting sense of euphoria and calm that many people report experiencing after prolonged exercise. Who among us, after an especially satisfying workout, hasn’t thought, “ah, my endorphins are kicking in.” Endorphins are the world’s sole celebrity peptide.

Could people really produce a substance similar to cannabinoids? This might take on a new definition for the stoker on a tandem.

Antioxidants

A really good article from the training peaks blog. It’s best practice to get your nutrients from real food than from a pill. Even moderation of food consumption is better than trying to load up on just one nutrient from that food item. My recommendation would be a quality multi-vitamin/mineral supplement once a day just for security sake. Enjoy those cherries and all the other nutrients that go along with it.
